The Puttin’ Utes were in action Monday, playing 36 holes, but their scores were not available before The Chronicle’s print deadline.
Utah is in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the sixth annual Cowboy Classic, a tournament hosted by the University of Wyoming. This will mark the first tournament for Utah without Dustin Pimm, who turned professional in March.
The Utah team will feature Nic Larson, Nick Carter, Steve Broker, Chance Cota and Chris Gresh. Utah finished in second place in 2007 after a solid three rounds by Chris Gresh, who took fifth place overall. Gresh shot a 72, 69 and 68, pitting him at one-under-par for the tournament.
This year’s field includes Arizona, Boise State, Cal-Riverside, College of Charlseston, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Kennesaw State, New Mexico, North Texas, Northern Colorado, Old Dominion, Oregon State, Southern Utah, UC Davis, UCLA, UCSB, Utah, UVSC, UTEP, UTPA, Weber State, Western Kentucky and Wyoming.
Play will resume Tuesday with 18 holes being played to decide a winner.
