Today started at about 8 am and the only reason I woke up is because my throat was so try that I could hardly breathe. We hit up the continental breakfast which was lovely. I had a Denver Omlette. I figured that would be appropriate. Then we came back to the hotel and crashed, watched Duke slay John Hopkins, and got ready to head to the stadium.
When we got to the stadium there were some little league lacrosse games so we went and watched those for awhile before the stadium opened. There was a Maverik Lacrosse tent there too and I saw some of their new gloves. They have a technology called Shark Gel which they borrowed from downhill skiers. It was a clear gel that you could tell would be pretty protective. All the kids were looking at the new Wonderboy shaft too which was pretty slick.
The first game of the day featured St. Thomas and Utah Valley. It was a good game, but St. Thomas was just too….organized and got the job done. I think Utah Valley had the talent, but they looked a little sluggish out there.
The second game featured Michigan versus Arizona State. It was almost of a clone of the first game. Michigan was well organized and played how they played. Arizona State seemed to be frantic but hung in the game until the very end.
After the game I went down on the field and walked around while Michigan celebrated. They were throwing their equipment into the stands to the little kids. I heard the Michigan goalie say to a teammate, “How sick would it be if I gave my stick to a little league goalie.” He did it and the fans were going nuts. We then took a picture as the staff who worked the tournament.
We got a ride back to the hotel and ordered some Pappa Johns. It was amazing. We were so hungry. Ben edited pictures and I wrote my article. It was a great trip.
