Diary of A Wimpy Kid Book 1
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
Jeff Kinney; Amulet Books 2007

So you are probably thinking to yourself, “Why is a grown adult reading a kids book.” Well, let me tell you. On my recent trip to California, my mom pulls the book out and tells us that one of my nephews gave it to her to read because it was so funny. She was skeptical at first, but after a few minutes she starting laughing so hard. My wife and I were thinking to ourselves, “it can’t be that funny.”

So after my mom read it, in less than two hours, she handed it off to my wife. She starting reading it and starting laughing so hard. She then handed it off to me. I was hesitant, but I succumbed to wife pressure. I started reading it and starting laughing just like my mom and my wife.

It is a simple book with big type and cartoons mixed in here and there. It is about a kid, probably in 6th grade or Junior High and is written as if it is his journal. I don’t have the book with me (I had to give it back to my nephew) but the funniest part I remember is when he says, after sleeping in, “The only reason I got up is because I couldn’t stand the taste of my own breath.” I was laughing so hard because this is so true sometimes.

Anyways, even though it is a “kids” book I think it will strike a cord with the kid inside all of us.
